How did you end up in IT? While I was attending Alabama State
University, I started a work study program in one of the student labs
and fell in love with computers. Shortly after that, I chose my major
as computer science. // What business skill would you most like
to acquire or improve? Communication. I've always struggled in
that department but I do have my current manager (and past ones)
to thank in helping me in this venture. // Who's been your greatest
mentor? What role has that person played in your life or career?
My greatest mentor, I'd have to say, currently, is my first line manager.
He has been an advocate in pushing me to greater heights with my
technical and communication skills. // What's your favorite part of
your day and why? My favorite part of the day, believe it or not, is
first thing in the morning. Not knowing how the day is going to go is
exciting for me. // What trends are affecting your work? One of the
major trends affecting my work is the opioid crisis we're facing. We're
being proactive in advising the public of the dangers of opioid abuse
versus being reactive. // What do you think "the next big thing"
for your business will be? Video visits are already underway but I
IMAGINE YOUR FACE HERE!
do believe this is "the next big thing." Doctors can cut down on simple
things such as follow ups and visually seeing the patient. // What do
you think you'd be doing if you weren't in IT? I'd be doing photography. I love photography (mainly weddings and portraits). // If money
were no object, what would you purchase and why? I'd purchase
a photography studio so I could do more photo shoots and have a
comfortable place for my clients to relax. // What's the first thing you
do when you get home from work each day? Another pastime and
joy I love doing is cooking. Any opportunity I have to get behind a stove
or a grill, I'm there. // What's your favorite sound? My favorite sound
is the ocean or maybe just water running, such as rivers or streams. //
What's one thing that most people don't know about you? I write
poetry. I'm a published author, having several poems published over the
past 10 years. // What's the best piece of advice you've ever been
given? My grandmother used to always tell us to be sure to make our
bed before we went to school. Being 7 or 8 at that time, I didn't know
the importance of what she was teaching me, to start my day off by
accomplishing the first task and that was making your bed.
