SNAPSHOT X TERRY HARMER Photography by John Davis NAME: Terry Harmer TITLE: Programmer analyst COMPANY: Incentra Group, parent company of Goodville Mutual Casualty Company, a property and casualty insurance provider HQ: Lancaster County, Pennsylvania YEARS IN IT: 15 The next big thing for my business will be handling and analyzing big data. The trend affecting my work is the threat of cyber crime. My favorite IBM product is Rational* Developer for IBM i (RDi). It's a huge help to developers transitioning to IBM i. I ended up in IT when my dad brought home a Macintosh Classic for his home office. My favorite activity outside of work is travel, whether personal or professional. Being a recent transplant from Ireland to the U.S., I'm looking forward to exploring more on this side of the Atlantic. The innovation that's made the biggest impact on my life is the Internet. My favorite musical artist is hard to pick, but I think U2 is pretty consistent. If I weren't in IT, I'd want to work on Wall Street. The best movie I've seen recently is probably "Guardians of the Galaxy." It's been a slow year for best movies. My favorite part of the day is whenever I see "job completed normally." My favorite book is "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." 40 // NOVEMBER 2015 My guilty pleasure is Shark Week, despite its recent foray into Fonzie territory. The geekiest thing I've ever owned is my PowerBook 3400c, which probably wouldn't be so geeky but for the fact that I acquired it in 2012. The superpower I wish I had is the ability to teleport. If money were no object, the one thing I'd purchase is Apple Inc. If I were stuck on a desert island, the one item I'd want is my trusty Swiss Army knife!
