Captaining IBM’s CIO Jeanette Horan steers Big Blue into newly charted waters BY EVELYN HOOVER PHOTO BY MATT CARR s CIO of IBM, Jeanette Horan has been at the helm of the tech giant’s IT transformation. It’s a story she enjoys sharing with IBM clients and other CIOs in the industry. “IBM is really seen as a role model,” she says. “Other CIOs want to know what we’ve done to help IBM be so successful and how we have supported this continuing transformation.” A 6 Horan’s own journey began in her native England where she studied math before taking her first IT position as a research scientist. She has since traveled across the pond, assuming several tech-related roles prior to joining IBM where she leads an extended team of several thousand employees.
