IBM Systems Magazine, Power Systems - Fresh Faces - October 2017 - FF4
The Power Future is Bright elcome to the second issue of Fresh Faces. I'm really excited to share this supplement with you because it profiles some of the up and coming people who are working on IBM Power Systems*, helping ensure it has a bright future as a business computing platform. I think Kimberly Storin, vice president, marketing, put it best when she said, "The strength of our community is vital to IBM Power Systems. Reaching new people allows us and our community members to continue developing innovative solutions. Our users, developers, partners and clients are very influential in the industry. They not only help us build a better product for our clients but they also contribute to the user community and help others to get the most out of their platform." In order for new people to be introduced to the system, they need to be educated about its value proposition and the many attributes the platform can bring to an organization. Doing so is the job of the IBM Power Systems Academic Initiative (PSAI) (ibm.com/university/power/), which recently reached a major milestone with nearly 600 schools participating in the program. The PSAI is an innovative flexible program designed to assist colleges and universities in the education of students in Power Systems technologies and concepts. The program offers college and high school faculty a variety of educational materials and resources to expand and enhance their curricula. It's just one of the ways IBM helps build and educate the Power Systems community. In the pages of this Fresh Faces issue, read about a roundtable IBM i Chief Architect Steve Will conducted with some Fresh Faces at the spring COMMON conference, check out profiles of more people who are relatively new to the Power Systems platform and read about Jim Buck's career educating the next generation of Power Systems practitioners. If you're interested in being profiled in a future issue of Fresh Faces or want to nominate someone else, contact Elizabeth Hudson (ehudson@us.ibm.com) or Brandon Pederson (bwpeders@us.ibm.com).
